Dr. Julie Callan, Dr. Casey Gall and Paul Kosemetzky PT are all trained in shockwave therapy. Book a new patient appointment with them today to start your shockwave treatment.
Technically, the term “shock” may be a little misleading… a shockwave device does NOT actually give you electrical shocks. Instead, it acts like a mini-jackhammer creating pressure waves (at approximately 5-10 times per second) that help stimulate healing in your tissues.
Extracorporeal Shockwave therapy is a multidisciplinary device used in orthopedics, physiotherapy & sports medicine. Acoustic waves with high energy peak used in Shockwave therapy interact with tissue enhance blood circulation & accelerates the healing of stubborn musculoskeletal conditions in bones, tendons, ligaments & muscle,
Initially after an injury, the body goes into an active “seek & repair” mode, resulting in inflammation (and all the uncomfortable symptoms that go with it including pain, redness, heat, and swelling) as well as thickening of the tissue.
However, if the tissue continues to get stressed by doing too much, too soon without allowing enough time to repair itself, it can go into a state of disrepair/degeneration or “limbo”. This “limbo” state is where the tissue is not actively in a healing mode, but it’s not entirely healed either. The waves from the shockwave device help “re-boot” the system and restart the “seek & repair” mode. It improves blood flow to the region and increases local cellular activity.
Shockwave Therapy's main assets are fast pain relief & mobility restoration. Together with being a non-surgical therapy with no need for painkillers makes it an ideal therapy to speed up recovery & cure various indications causing acute or chronic pain. Shockwave Therapy may help:
We customize treatment to each patient’s personal pain tolerance. We start at a low level & increase it until we reach your personal tolerance, at which point we’ll hold steady at that range for 2,000 pulses. Typically three to five sessions are needed.
